The staff of Voices of Laurel is pleased to announce that the third recipient of the Laurel Light Award is the grief support group Stillborn and Infant Loss Support (SAILS).
SAILS is a beacon of hope and healing in the Laurel community, dedicating its efforts to the mental health and well-being of families affected by miscarriage, stillbirth, and other forms of pregnancy loss. Since its inception in 2019, SAILS has compassionately served over 600 families, providing essential support through community building, educational initiatives, and mentorship. The organization’s commitment is exemplified through the establishment of ongoing support groups that offer a safe space for grieving parents, alongside numerous volunteer projects that engage community members in meaningful, compassionate activities.
As SAILS approaches its five-year anniversary, its impact continues to resonate deeply within the community, evidenced by the upcoming gala (see details in City Beat on page 4), which is intended to celebrate the resilience of the families served and the dedication of its volunteers. By awarding the Laurel Light Award, we recognize not just the substantial contributions of this remarkable organization but also honor the tireless work of its staff and volunteers who have been instrumental in fostering an environment of support and understanding. Their unwavering dedication makes SAILS a deserving recipient for this award, spotlighting their significant role in transforming grief into empowerment and community solidarity.
Voices of Laurel congratulates SAILS and thanks its members for serving as a true beacon of light for the Laurel community.
